Opening Week!

Following a hard-fought 2016-2017 season, the Central Coast Marlins are seeking to show their strength in the upcoming 2017-2018 NSW State League Baseball season. With newly refined rosters and a strong desire to show their talent, the Marlins are looking for a strong opening round this weekend (16th-17th September). With opening week at home, in the heart of the Central Coast, the Marlins seek to take control of their home turf in the opening home stand of the season, setting up for a successful season throughout all grades.

With a first round against the defending Club-Champions, the Macarthur Orioles, all Marlins grades will be fighting hard to start their season off with a win.

The U18 team begins their campaign first, this Saturday (16th September) at Baseball Park, Springfield, with the game scheduled to begin at 2:00pm.

The following day (17th September), the 3rd, 2nd and 1st grade sides all begin their season, playing at Baseball Park, Springfield. Beginning at 9:30am, the 3rd grade side kicks off the senior season for the Marlins, followed by 2nd grade at 12:00pm. Both 3rd grade and 2nd grade will be a tough matchup and are sure to be entertaining and hard-fought throughout.

The major matchup for the weekend begins at 2:30pm, between the 1st grade teams of the Central Coast Marlins and the reigning champions, the Macarthur Orioles. Set to start at 2:30pm, this afternoon matchup will feature the talent of two U18 Australian players; Nick Anderson-Vine and Jake Amos, who recently returned from the U18 World Cup in Canada, where Australia placed a strong 5th and fought out an extra innings 1 run defeat with the world #1 U18 team, Japan.

Additionally, Central Coast Marlins are thrilled to welcome infielder Garrett Hughes to the club for the 2017/18 season. Garrett comes from Issaquah, Washington and recently graduated from Whitworth University. In 2016, he won the ABCA/Rawlings National Gold Glove Award, whilst playing at Whitworth University. Garrett also showed speed in stealing 51 bases throughout his collegiate career.
